The simultaneous arising reliance of the six consciousnesses is the manas. The simultaneous arising reliance of the manas is the tathāgatagarbha. It is the tathāgatagarbha that directly generates and sustains the manas, enabling the manas to exist and operate continuously. The tathāgatagarbha directly generates all dharmas, and the simultaneous arising reliance of all dharmas is also the tathāgatagarbha. Without the tathāgatagarbha, there would be no existence or operation of any dharma. However, the tathāgatagarbha must rely on the manas to function, to generate all dharmas, and to manifest the operation and characteristics of the tathāgatagarbha. Therefore, the manas is the simultaneous arising reliance for the tathāgatagarbha's operation of all dharmas, rather than the simultaneous arising reliance for the generation of the tathāgatagarbha itself, since the tathāgatagarbha inherently exists without needing to be generated, and the manas cannot generate the tathāgatagarbha either.
