Original Text: When you recognize the mind-nature, it can be said to be inconceivable; clearly nothing is attained, and when attained, it cannot be spoken of as known.
Explanation: When we, through cultivation, illuminate the mind and realize enlightenment, recognizing our own fundamental mind-nature, only then do we know that this mind-nature is truly inconceivable. Sentient beings, no matter how they employ their conscious mind, thoughts, and perceptions, or attempt to comprehend it through emotional understanding and intellectual reasoning, cannot fathom it. Its essence is so subtle and difficult to know. Although we recognize our own mind-nature, this mind-nature is ultimately unattainable. It is our own inherent family treasure, an ancient relic; when the causes and conditions are sufficient, it is unearthed. It is not obtained from outside, nor is it given by others. When we recognize it, we cannot say we have fully comprehended all its aspects. We merely know its general aspect. The remaining, more numerous and deeper, subtler aspects of its essence must be gradually explored and uncovered in the future process of cultivating the Way. Only then, ultimately, can we attain omniscient wisdom and perfect the Buddha Path.
