Before a carp leaping over the Dragon Gate can undergo a complete transformation and become a dragon deity, how long must it accumulate momentum, how much energy and great merit must it gather, and how much force must it possess to make that sudden leap, instantly shedding its old form?
Many individuals have not accumulated sufficient strength nor paid the necessary price. In their haste, they leap prematurely, only to find that it was not the Dragon Gate they jumped over, nor did they become a member of the dragon clan—they remain the same carp they always were. Some even end up severely injured, destroying their bodies and losing their forms, without gaining even a single dragon scale.
Unwilling to relinquish any of their desires, they seek to transcend and become sages. This is the greatest greed of modern people.
