Why Does Amṛta Turn into Poison?

When sweet dew is poured into a poisonous cup, it instantly turns into poison due to the impurity of the vessel. When the nectar of Dharma enters the minds of sentient beings, they give rise to distorted interpretations due to the impurity of their wisdom. The seeds of erroneous views lie within the eight consciousnesses of sentient beings; encountering conditions, they sprout distorted understandings. The pure appearance of the Dharma nectar is distorted by the discerning minds of sentient beings, and the internal manifestations that arise are no longer the true nectar. When the discerning mind contacts these distorted internal manifestations, erroneous views arise. These seeds of erroneous views are then planted back into the field of the eight consciousnesses, destined to bloom as flowers of erroneous views in the future and bear fruits of erroneous views. How lamentable this is! Eliminating the defilements of the manas (intellect root) is the most urgent task for Buddhist practitioners. This requires the mind consciousness to constantly engage in correct contemplation of the true Dharma principles, continuously perfuming the manas. One day, when the erroneous views of the manas are transformed, the practice will be able to proceed on the correct path.
